Application of glass lined reactor in pharmaceutical industry

In pharmaceuticals, the use of glass-lined reactors is crucial, which involves a number of links and precautions. Below are the detailed steps and points on how to use glass lined reactor in pharmaceuticals:

Firstly, glass lined reactors are widely used in pharmaceuticals for the synthesis, reaction and mixing of drugs.  

Drug synthesis: glass-lined reactor can accommodate reactants and catalysts, provide appropriate reaction conditions (such as temperature, pressure and stirring speed), and ensure the safety and stability of the reaction process. Its corrosion resistance can withstand the corrosion of different chemicals and prolong the service life.  

Drug reaction: In the reaction process, the isolation and sealing of glass-lined reactor can prevent the leakage of reactants and the entry of external impurities, thus guaranteeing the purity and quality of drugs. 

Drug mixing and dissolution: glass-lined reactor can also provide uniform stirring and mixing effect, ensure the full contact of reactants and solvents, and improve the reaction efficiency.

When using the glass-lined reactor, the following operating procedures and safety requirements need to be strictly observed:

Preventing hard objects from collision: strictly prevent any hard metal objects from falling into the vessel, so as not to touch the glass-lined surface.

Temperature control:

Avoid heating the material when the tank is cold or adding cold material when the tank is hot, so as to prevent the sudden change of temperature from forming internal stress and affecting the service life.

When the operation is running, pressurisation and temperature rise should be carried out slowly, generally low-pressure steam is fed in first to keep it for a period of time, and then pressurisation and temperature rise slowly to the operating pressure.

The speed of heating up or cooling down should be kept within a suitable range (e.g. about 3℃/minute) and should not exceed 5℃/minute.

Discharge operation: If the discharge valve or discharge pipe is blocked, use non-metallic tools to gently poke it open, avoid touching and knocking.

Maintenance check:

Regularly check the mixer seal oil level, heat transfer oil and sealing condition.

Monthly torch probing and visual inspection to check for chipping and porcelain dropping; annual cycle test to ensure the integrity of the enamel.

Other Precautions:

The porcelain surface should be protected during lifting and handling to avoid contact or collision.

It is strictly prohibited to apply welding directly on the outer wall of glass-lined reactor preventing coping, and the equipment should be covered tightly when welding nearby.

Avoid the use of iron bars, shovels and other hard objects in the equipment stirring; operation as far as possible to avoid the kettle shell and corrosive liquid contact.

In summary, the use of glass-lined reactor in the pharmaceutical need to strictly comply with the operating procedures and safety requirements to ensure its normal, safe and efficient operation.
